ART WORKS
Some artworks installed at the gallery.
Exposed is a sculpture of an anatomically correct human heart built from white egg shells, adhesive and wire. This work was created to portray the symptom of extreme sensitivity in borderline personality disorder. Every feeling, every thought is to the extreme. It is black or it is white, there is no in between. Relationships between family,
friends or spouses, with a person diagnosed with BPD have been commonly described as “walking on eggshells”. The use of the broken white eggshells insinuates broken innocence, a loss of purity and perfection. Rebuilt but left vulnerable and fragile, never
again whole.
Two at Home is an acrylic on canvas painting illustrating two figures at home during quarantine. This work was created to capture a certain moment in life during the height of the global pandemic. Using an overall pale blue colour palette was a choice made to illustrate the blank and isolated feeling of those who had no choice but to stay at home or feel like they had no reason to go out. Using a real life experience that many people have gone through and understand was documented in real time through art to be forever captured within a painting.
Splattered (2022)
Acrylic on wood panel, resin
This painting is called splattered that reminds me of fire works that’s been blasted up into the sky at mid-night, celebrating an event that gives you the feeling of joy and happiness. The variety of colours being used for the fire works are pink (compassion), orange (excitement), yellow (cheerfulness) and green (growth) that makes sparkles in the sky that forms abstract shapes in different sizes. These paint colours are very bright colours but the background itself is a dark purple that describes the atmosphere of the sky being dark out at night. The texture is smooth with a few bumps that you can feel from the dry paint that should make you feel like a real explosion from the fire works really did happen in this painting.
Insanity (2021)
Film
The story is about a young woman being trapped in her house as a shut-in while suspenseful music is playing in the background. The eye snapping represents her losing her sanity as the music grows louder and louder as it repeats within her head. She finally breaks free from this curse by going outside from the cage of her home. This is the suspenseful story of breaking free from her curse as she uses her feet to walk out of her home. Then the cycle repeats to the girl closing her eyes as everything that she does was inside her mind.
